AAA Optimistic About Spring Gas Prices

Posted:

It may be a little early to guess what will happen to gas prices come spring.

But a AAA report is optimistic .

The prediction is that gas prices will likely rise but the annual peak may be lower than last year.

AAA spokesmen report the national average price of gas could reach a high of up to $3.75 per gallon this year, comparing to last year's peak of $3.79.

They also say motorists in the state will see a peak lower than the record high of $4.24 in 2013.

It's safe to say though that most North Dakotans aren't looking forward to any rise in prices.

"It was rough. Especially, you know, driving big vehicles like a pickup or something like that that guzzles the gas. You know, on a ranch you need those pickups to pull your cattle around and stuff but it gets pretty spendy when you have to fill that tank up."

"I still think they're going to go up just because of the cold weather and bad weather out East. It's gonna affect it."

"They're plenty high. I have a feeling they're probably going to go up significantly."

The average price statewide last year was $3.54 per gallon, making it the least expensive year to fill up in the state since 2010 -- but still the third most expensive year on record.
