Shootings Still Unsolved in Ward County

Posted:

Who is driving around, firing shots into homes in the area in the middle of the night?

That's a question the Ward County Sheriff's Department is trying to answer.

And investigators are asking for help.

The first instance of a drive-by shooting was last Tuesday - when this house on 55th Street Southeast was hit by three shots, including one that went into a bedroom.

Then, two days later, two more homes in the same area were hit by 9-millimeter slugs in the middle the night.

And Lientenant Larry Hubbard says one could easily have hit someone who would have normally been sleeping in a bed where the bullet tore through.

(Lt. Larry Hubbard, Ward County Sheriff's Department) "It went into an area right over the top of somebody's mattress. Nobody was sleeping there luckily that night - that person happened to be sice and was sleeping on the couch. But there was somebody on the other side of the bed, so within feet of that person. Had the other person not have been sick they may have been hit, severely injured, or even killed. So it's getting very dangerous and we're asking for anybody's help to give us any information before somebody does get hurt."

Another shooting on a third night hit one a commercial building northwest of Minot early this week.

There have been no injuries but the incidents are considered very dangerous.
