The three finalists for the job of city manager in Minot are going through their in-person interviews this week.
One will visit and answer questions on each day through Friday.
Today, Greg Sund was getting his turn.
Sund is the county administrator of Ellis County in Kansas, and has served as city administrator in Dickinson and Spearfish in recent years.
Each candidate is being asked to give a ten minute discussion on managing city growth in an economic boom.
Sund says it's important to plan ahead for growth, but to not be focused only on the cause of the boom - in Minot's case, the surge in oil exploration.
(Greg Sund, Finalist for City Manager) "One of the key things you look at when you're facing a boom or when you're involved in one is not to let the oil economy totally control your economy. It's easy to let that economy push you around because it grows so fast, but the object when you're in some sort of boom economy is to keep your eye on keeping diverse development throughout the community because at some point this type of industry slows down or, heaven forbid, goes bust."
After all three candidates have been interviewed, the selection committee will choose one to recommend to the city council, which will decide who gets the job of city manager.
The presentations of all three candidates will be viewable in their entirety on the city's YouTube channel - just go to the city's website to find a link.
