Bust out your winter running gear...
There's another way you can help raise money to heat homes on the Standing Rock Reservation.
On Saturday February 22nd there will be a 5K/10K one mile walk or run event.
The race starts at 1pm and will take place along the Tom O'Leary path.
Parks & Rec will sand and de-ice the course and the event is open to the public.
"It's a long winter here so you got to get out and see what it feels like to run outside again," says Chase Iron Eyes, Coordinator, Heating the Rez Run.
It just makes sense. It's the right thing to do and the good thing to do. It's the North Dakota way of helping your neighbor," says Scott Davis, Coordinator, Heating the Rez Run.
There is a 25 dollar entry fee.
100 percent of the proceeds will go toward the heating the rez campaign.
Secretary of State's Office is currently reviewing a petition for North Dakota schools to begin after Labor Day.
