Students Try Out Curling

Posted:

Students at Liberty Elementary School are channeling their inner Olympians this week through a new behavior program.

The program includes seven discipline skills represented by seven Olympic rings.

All week they will have kids wear colors coinciding with one of the rings, and have activities in the classrooms.

Agencies also sponsor activities to help the students practice these skills.

These third graders get to try out curling.

If you're not familiar with curling, here's how it works.

"You have to like wear these specialty shoes and you have this special broom thing and you use those things and you push them and then another person sweeps behind and then those rings over there are called 'the house' and you try to get it close to or inside the house," say Miranda Dodd & Callie Bosch, 3rd Graders, Liberty Elementary School.

Tomorrow the students will take on six Olympic events inside and outside of Hughes.

There will be a closing ceremony at 2:30 pm with medals given out.
