ND Happiest State in U.S.

Posted: Updated:

North Dakota is the happiest state in America- that's according to Gallup's annual well-being poll.

They survey thousands of people all across the United States and have them rate their overall well-being.

This year little old North Dakota took the top spot from Hawaii.

When asked about the poll, most people said they weren't surprised ND is number one.

"I think a lot of people in ND are down to earth people they know how to have a good time. They are very family oriented and a great place to raise your family," Courtney said.

When asked what made them happy, most people said family right away.

"Family is number one for me and I have my beautiful wife," Mike said.

Mike Frohlich at Laughing Sun also said his son makes him happy, and so does his work.

"Owning a brew pub makes me happy. Sitting here with a room full of people drinking my beer makes me happy," Mike said.

People also said coffee and nice weather make them happy.
