Posted: Updated:

A school building that has served thousands of students for 50 years was honored today.

Jim Hill Middle School went into service in the fall of 1963.

Today, three of the school's five principals were there are students past and present celebrated.

The party included the debut of a new arrangement of I've Been Working on the Railroad, arranged by a Concordia College graduate who is now a music composer.

(Leslie Barney, Jim Hill Band Director) "We commissioned him to do this song which fits our two kinds of bands with regard to range, instrumentation, and ability so we're very excited to perform this - this is the premier performance of 'I've Been Working on the Railroad.'"

(Cindy Mau, Jim Hill Principal) "It has been a phenomenal school to be the principal of. We have a great student body and North Dakota teachers and Minot teachers are some of the finest we could have. So to work with such passionate educators has been a highlight for me."

The current principal, Cindy Mau, has worked at Jim Hill as a counselor and principal for almost half of the building's life, and is retiring at the end of this year.
