It will be a second time around for Minot Public School patrons next month -- a second bond issue will be voted on early next month.
Of course in December, voters turned back a 125 million dollar proposal to build new schools in the district.
This latest proposal is much smaller however -- just 39.5 million and would build a new elementary school and bring additions to other buildings as well.
Daryl Somerville led a group that supported the previous bond question -- 'Yes for Students'.
That group is working again on this proposal...one he hopes will have the support of the 60 percent needed for passage.
He says, they heard the voters the first time...and he believes this bond request will be supported.
(Daryl Somerville - Yes for Students Chairman) "After the bond was defeated we made a special effort to go out and visit with the voters and see what we needed to do to get a bond issue passed. The message that we received was pretty much the same from lots of people who didn't support it. That message was maybe a little too much at one time and we know that the elementary needs are immediate now and today. Bring that back to us and we can support the elementary schools first."
The date of the bond election is April 8th.
