After years of negotiating, Ward County and the owners of the Minot Daily News have reached a deal on the sale of a parcel of land critical to the county's building plans.
Ogden Newspapers and Ward County came to an agreement late last week
that will give the county this parking lot that will be used for an expansion of the county jail.
In exchange, the county will give Ogden the land where the county library now sits - just to the east of the parking lot in question, and right across the street from the Daily News offices.
The county will also give Ogden an undisclosed amount of cash.
The deal ends the county's effort to take the land through eminent domain - a legal maneuver that began late last year after negotiators had failed to reach a deal for the sale of the parking lot.
