The Minot High boys basketball team will be making a return trip to state after missing out last season when they meet up with 2nd ranked Fargo Davies in opening round play of the Super "A" basketball tournament. The Magicians are coming off of a state qualifying win over Dickinson last Saturday and will run into an offensive minded Davies team that is coached
by former Minot High and Minot State standout Bart Manson and his dad, former Minot High coach Gene Manson. The Eagles enter state tournament play with a 20-2 record and have hit the century mark in points 5 times this season and the Magicians point to slowing down the potent Eagle offense.
Dean Winczewski, Magicians Basketball Coach:They're extremely athletic, they have two of the better scorers in Tanner Kretchman and Andrew Kozlowski. They're very talented, they shoot the ball extremely well, they don't have a great post game as far as having a center that goes in and gets big and posts but Kozlowski's very effective in there as a guard. They're explosive. They're capable of scoring a ton of points and we have to make sure that we keep them in front of us and we guard the ball and we make them earn every basket.
Noah Bosh, Junior:Yeah well that's the thing, it's a whole new season and nothing up to this point matters. It's a new season, I think we match up with Davies pretty well and we're excited for Thursday.
Braydon Lund, Sophomore:We're very confident, we play as a team. No one's selfish and we all play for each other.
Kolton Larson, Senior:It's going to be a good match up. They have a couple of really good players that can score very well so our main focus this week is guard the ball and go from there.>>
