Rural Flood Update

Posted: Updated:

A relatively quiet spring melt continues around the region.

Of course, there are certainly localized problem areas -- and near the top of that list might be here at 62st Street SE.

Water continues to flow over a driveway at this home -- and the water is reaching close to homes in the very flat area as the snow melt continues.

Across the county however, Highway Engineer Dana Larsen says things have been relatively quiet and uneventful...a change from previous years for sure.

(Dana Larsen - Ward County Highway Engineer) "Our guys are busy working with the spring melt but it isn't chaotic...it is doable. It is nice being able to get back to -- it would be nice if we didn't have to do it at all but it is a lot better than closing half of the roads down in the county and putting up maps to show how people might be able to get to where they need to go."

Larson says limiting trouble with roads would be nice this year -- especially since they continue to still battle to get funding from FEMA to cover damage done in 2011.
