Keep Your Luck in Check Tonight

Posted:

St. Patrick's Day celebrations are in full swing...and have been all weekend.

Steph Scheurer has some tips on how to be safe and keep your luck in check during this holiday.

"We definitely anticipate this time of year and this day," says Ryan Ellingson, General Manager, Blarney Stone.

St. Patrick's Day is here.

"It's a busy night. It's one of your best bar nights of the year," says Gary Schumacher, Owner, Taxi 9000.

It's already been busy, especially for the Blarney Stone Pub.

"We had a really busy weekend. Friday, Saturday of course very busy. Yesterday everybody kept the party going on Sunday and of course today we had a line out the door," says Ellingson.

But with celebrating comes a warning.

Eight DUI's were already given out this weekend in Bismarck.

Sergeant Mark Buschena with the Bismarck Police Department says before you celebrate, designate.

"Think about how you're going to get home. Either designate a driver, take a cab, or spend the night," says Sergeant Mark Buschena, Bismarck Police Dept.

It's the second busiest night of the year for cab companies.

Gary Schumacher, Owner of Taxi 9000 says to allow at least 10 minutes for the taxi to pick you up.

"Just be patient and once you've called just kind of keep an eye out for it because they're going to be just doing a constant rotation between the bars," says Gary.

Schumacher says they've got twice the staff on board tonight ready to get you where you need to go, safely.

"We do have a lot of new officers. They're aggressive and they're out there aggressively looking for alcohol impaired drivers and they're finding them so, again, not trying to damper anybody's fun but if you're out celebrating, plan ahead and play it safe, don't just depend on the luck of the Irish," says Buschena.

"Tonight's going to be great. We have plenty of room for everybody coming in. It's just going to be nonstop everybody having a good time," says Ellingson.

So remember - be safe, have fun, and good luck.

"Cheers," says Ellingson.

Schumacher also says McQuade Distributing provides most bars with taxi voucher.

If you'd like a free cab ride home, just ask the bartender for a voucher.
