The top ranked and unbeaten Bishop Ryan Lady Lions will travel to Fargo this weekend for their final 3 games of the season. The Lady Lions are the defending state champions and
carry a 54 game win streak into this weekend's action. The team also should be at full strength after having junior Gabbie Bohl sit out 2 of the regional games with an aggravated knee and the team feels it is ready to go.
Julie Stewart, Lady Lions Basketball Coach:Our focus is just taking advantage of every opportunity to improve and grow not only as a basketball players but also as being a part of the group, taking pride in your role or your part, what can you do to help us as a group to complete. I just hope we can go down there and really work together and just play the game the way they know how.
Hannah Stewart, Junior:We feel healthy, prepared, we're going to go into these next few practices you know just getting ourselves ready for the different venue and different experience that playing at state brings because it is a different way or different feel on the court so that's what we're doing at practices just working hard.
Anika Rovig, Senior:I mean we kind of have an advantage, we've been there the past two years so we know what it's like to play in a big arena like that and what the fans are like so just coming down to how we play and how we execute on defense and offense.
Maddie Wald, Junior:We're really excited to go give it our all and finish the season as strong as we can and we've been waiting for this all season and hopefully our hard work pays off.
The Lady Lions first round opponent will be Lakota-Adams-Edmore, a team the Lady Lions met up with earlier in the season that the Lady Lions won by 15. However in that game the Lady Raiders Fallon Freje turned in a huge performance scoring 45 points and the Lady Lions know they'll need to limit her scoring this time around.
You know there were times during that game we just absolutely weren't aware of where she was at and we have to be smarter than that and we have to make sure that we know where she's at on the floor.
Gabbie Bohl, Junior:Obviously having her score 45 points was actually a big disappointment for us so we're actually coming into the game on Thursday, we're really going to limit her touches and her not even letting her get the ball so we're just going to lock down on our defense on her but we also have to be aware of her other teammates because she is a very good passer and she can find people.
With a healthy lineup and a team that returns plenty of experience, the Lady Lions are hoping they find themselves playing for a second straight title on Saturday night.
