Bismarck, ND -

The Nebraska Cornhuskers may not be the first team you pick to cheer for in the NCAA tournament.
But the Husker head coach has a local tie, that may have you rooting for the Big Red.

(Al Bortke-Former U Mary Head MBB Coach) the place this building and floor where he got his start

(Tia Streeter-KX Sports) Long before Tim Miles was the head coach at Nebraska, and even before his 6 year run as head coach at NDSU, he was a U Mary Marauder. He played 3 seasons before becoming a student coach his senior year.

(Al Bortke-Former U Mary Head MBB Coach)  Tim Miles said I like to coach but can I come to the staff meeting, and I said its not can you come but you have to come to all the meetings. we had a lot of confidence in Tim we let him totally run our JV program.

(Tia Streeter-KX Sports) Miles has shot to success not only because of his basketball knowledge, but his personality off the court, he buys pizza for fans, Tweets at halftime and chats with just about everyone. Bortke says its his ability to make people believe in him, that has made him one of the hottest young coaches in the game.

(Al Bortke-Former U Mary Head MBB Coach)  he's just a very keen energetic kid or coach that really loves the game and work hard and learn everything he can

(Tia Streeter-KX Sports) Miles is in just his second year at Nebraska, and already they're in the NCAA tournament as an 11 seed, taking on Baylor in the first round.

(Al Bortke- Former U Mary Head MBB Coach) not afraid of a challenge, a good challenge Friday with Baylor, Baylor has more talent, he'll have to coach 'em up, Nebraska can probably win because Tim Miles is on the bench

Nebraska and Baylor play at 11:40 am Friday morning on TruTV.
Now to another team trying to bust the bracket, the NDSU Bison, who many are calling FAVORITES to win their first game.
