Restaurant Brings New Mexico Flare to North Dakota

New Mexico brings it's spice and flare to North Dakota.

("Alright here's the magic.")

It's always been Mark Luna's dream to start his own restaurant.

"I love cooking. I love it. Every minute of it," says Mark Luna.

He made his dream come true last year when he and his family opened Los Luna's, authentic Mexican food in the Gateway Mall.

"I'm doing this for my family," says Mark.

("Yeah I gotta portion it out.")

He and his wife Valerie have eight children, and most of them like 13 year old Gensis, help out at the restaurant.

Her favorite thing to cook seems to run in the family...

"The enchilada's," says Gensis Luna.

"Favorite thing to cook is probably the enchilada's," says Mark.

"I can cook anything except for the chili. The green and red chili," says Gensis.

Aside from preparing the food fresh every day, Los Luna's is known for their chili.

"They got them from hatched New Mexico chilis. We had them shipped up here this summer and then we roasted them and we freeze them and then we prepare the green chili every day," says Jackee Rohrich, Worker.

("Here's yours with jalepenos.")

Some customers are starting to become regulars.

"I usually get the chimichanga. It's awesome. It's the best chimichanga I've ever had," says Jeremy Blazer, Customer.

"We'll cook everybody's food and we'll bring it out. And then we come out here and sit and visit with everybody. So it's almost like everybody's just at our house, you know, and we're cooking in our own kitchen," says Valerie.

("It's kind of a big ordeal here.")

For Mark, cooking isn't a job, it's a hobby.

"I like making people happy," says Mark.

"Everybody says they can tell that every meal that Mark brings out is made with heart," says Valerie.

Los Lunas lives up to its name as The Luna family serves up a taste of New Mexico on every plate.

("Done deal")

Mark says his goal is to one day move Los Lunas to a restaurant setting.
