Woman Sews Blankets for St. Alexius NICU

It's never too late to make a difference.

One 92 year old woman's hard work will help newborn babies.

Gertrude Mueller heard about the need for blankets in the NICU at St. Alexius Medical Center through her women's church group..

All 60 of these blankets were made in her spare time over the past three and a half years.

She used old flannel night gowns, beach towels, and even a table cloth to cut and sew into small blankets.

"When I heard about the need and I figured well I've got the flannel night gowns I might as well do something with them. I feel that the Lord blessed me with bringing the idea to me at this time that I could do something for them," says Gertrude Mueller.

Nellie Blotter, Clinical Coordinator with St. Alexius says there is always a need for blankets in the intensive care unit.

Mueller says if people would like to donate any materials to her, she will continue making more blankets.
