Standing Rock Tribe Speaks on Colorado Accident

Posted: Updated:

A somber mood surrounds the McLaughlin School District and community.

Families of those that were injured in the accident are on their way to Colorado.
The group was returning from a class trip in Denver when their Sport Utility Vehicle hit a patch of ice and rolled twice.
The McLaughlin administration had no comment, but a communication advocate for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has this to say.

"It's been a big shock to the community.  So a lot of people have been praying and hoping for the best.  Hearts are a little sad right now so just hoping for the safety and well-being of the children and staff members from McLaughlin" says DJ Two Bears from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

Five 8th grade students and two teachers from McLoughlin School were involved.
