Golden Valley Man Says He was Shot in His Home

A Golden Valley man says he's ok after being shot three times at his farm Sunday afternoon.

60-year-old Jeff Gegelman says he was home alone around 4 central when a car pulled into the driveway of his farm.

He says one of three young men got out and knocked on his door.

Gegelman says he didn't answer and the man went away.

Gegelman says he went to get a handgun when the car turned around.

"And the guy comes and pounds on the door again and I won't answer. Then he walks in yells 'anyone home, anyone home' and when he came in I was waiting for him by the bathroom and I just said you picked the wrong house to rob today and he started shooting," says Jeff Gegelman.

Gegelman says he was shot twice in his right arm and once in the chest.

He says he drove himself into Beulah to be treated and was eventually flown to Bismarck. He was released last night.

KX News has placed several calls to the Mercer County Sheriff last night and again today--but no one has been willing to comment on the story.

We are told the sheriff is out today but that he will get back to us.

Gegelman says the intruder shot him with a .38 and he returned fire with a .22 pistol.

He says he had never seen the three men before but that the vehicle they were driving had a North Dakota license plate.
