A North Dakota native who consulted in the making of the movie Top Gun has died in the crash of his plane.
Jim Maroney was found dead in the wreckage of his World War Two-era plane in Tennessee on March 23rd.
Maroney helped train Tom Cruise for his role in the 1986 movie, Top Gun.
The pilot was en route to an air show in Florida where he was scheduled to perform.
According the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane was flying near-level at impact with engine controls in the "full forward" position.
