Jeff Gegelman was home alone around 4:00 when 3 men he didn't know drove into his yard and came knocking at the door..
"The guy comes and knocks again, no one answers and he comes in and when he come in I was standing in the bathroom with a pistol pointed at him and I just said, "you come to the wrong house."
According to Gegelman, the man started shooting.. He was hit 3 times.. twice in the arm and once in the chest.
All the other shots were lodged in the walls.. the Sheriff's department cut them out for evidence.
The man finally ran out when Gegelman started shooting back and hit the intruder..
"Gegelman says the men took off and he drove himself into town to be treated.. he was later taken to a Bismarck hospital."
"Blood is you know all over the place and I was like oh my gosh are you going to be okay and he said I'm fine it didn't even hurt, he goes."
The Gegelman's say they never thought something like this would happen in Golden Valley.. and certainly not at their own home.
"We have never ever locked our doors but yeah, we do now."
Gegelman was released from the hospital yesterday with a couple of bandages and says he doing very well other than a little soreness in his arm.
He says this is nothing.. compared to what could have happened.
"Yeah, I'm lucky.. very, very lucky."
"All we can do is thank God that he's safe. It's a miracle I dont know what else to say.. it's a miracle."?
