Posted: Updated:

A former police officer for the Three Affiliated Tribes has been found guilty of using excessive force on prisoners in his custody.

A jury in Bismarck convicted 58-year-old Lindrith Tsoodle on one felony and on misdemeanor in connection with incidents in 2010.

He twisted the neck of a prisoner in handcuffs, threw him to the ground, and kneed him in the stomach.

In another case, he used pepper spray on a suspect who was not a threat.

Tsoodle faces up to 16 years in prison for the convictions.

A sentencing date has not been set.
