Delanie Wiedrich has been singing her heart out ever since she was little.
"My first experience with singing was in front of my church congregation when I think I was about five or six years old," says Delanie Wiedrich.
Now 17 years old and a senior at Hazen High School, she's well on her way to fulfilling her dream as a professional singer.
She's seen the Medora Musical every year since she was five.
"I remember looking up to those big kids, I guess, and thinking oh wow I want to be just like them," says Wiedrich.
With a little help and preparation from her vocal coach Sabrina Lee-Podoll..
And a little Patty Loveless..
Delanie auditioned for the Medora Musical.
"It was always sort of a dream of mine that I didn't think would come true," says Wiedrich.
She got the call with a job offer to be a Burning Hills Singer.
"I'm just sitting in the car trying to like undo my seatbelt and run inside and tell my mom. And he's saying you know, talk to your parents, really think about this. I'm like, we've already talked about it, I'm ready," says Wiedrich.
It was music to both her and Sabrina's ears.
"Oh I totally cried. I was so excited for her," says Sabrina Lee-Podoll.
Delanie says it's a huge stepping stone in her career.
"It's my first professional job which is very exciting for someone my age to be taking that step. It's exciting for anyone to take the first step towards a professional career," says Wiedrich.
"She's ready. Like, she can go off and do whatever she wants, where she wants and she'll be very successful," says Lee-Podoll.
Singing has always struck a chord with Delanie.
Now she steps on to the big stage.
"This is what I want to do with my life," says Wiedrich.
Rehearsal's for the Medora Musical begin May 9 in Minneapolis.
Toward the end of May, rehearsals will be in Medora until the opening day, June 6.
