Tragedies like the shooting at Ft. Hood are felt across military bases nationwide.
North Dakota National Guard Units will sometimes go through Ft. Hood before they are deployed overseas...
In the past year, three North Dakota units have spent time at Ft. Hood.
One leader of the guard says when they heard about yesterday's shooting, it was hard to believe it.
Deputy Adjutant General Alan Dohrmann says that the military is a family -- and when tragedy strikes it affects them all.
"When one of your own turns against you it kind of shakes the community. But we are a resilient force, we stress that. Ft. Hood and the North Dakota National Guard will get through this because we are a resilient force," said Deputy Adjutant General Alan Dohrmann.
