Home Invasion Thwarted by Alarm

Posted: Updated:

Minot police are investigating a home intrusion that happened this morning in SE Minot.

The call came in shortly after four this morning in the Green Valley neighborhood.

Police say someone was able to break into a home at 224 Souris Drive -- but apparently left quickly after the home's alarm system was activated.

Cameron and Ashlee Deschamp were at home sleeping with their kids when the incident happened.

Cameron Deschamp says it appears the alarm system scared off the suspect who first tried to gain entry through a back door before moving to a side door.

That alarm system was installed only three or four months ago he says.

Police were in the neighborhood with search dogs...and trying to track footprints in the snow as well.

They tell us they were able to track someone for a short distance in the snow, but the trail was lost.

No arrest has been made in the incident.
