Two hundred people will gather at the Grand tonight to 'Stand Up, Speak Out, and Stop It'
The event to raise awareness and funding for The Northern Plains Children's Advocacy Center & Family Services.
Graduates from Minot State's Leadership Initiative are organizing the event tonight, with help from students currently involved in the group.
Though the topic of child abuse is a somber one, it will be addressed with speakers, dancers, musicians and auctions.
Event Coordinator Ashley Maercklein says the center is also a source of information.
(Ashley Maercklein, Leadership Initiative Alumnae and Event Coordinator) "They can contact the advocacy center if they if they have suspicions, if they have questions. If they do have suspicions or know it is happening, they can let them know what they're supposed to do, how they're supposed to go about it so that it will be less of an impact on the child."
In 2010, 129 clients visited the NPCAC. That number steadily climbed to 270 clients in 2013.
