Deadline Passes-One Candidate for Mayor

Posted: Updated:

The deadline to submit paperwork to get a name on the summer election for local office passed this afternoon.

And there's just one person running for Mayor in Minot.

Former alderman Chuck Barney got into the race last year, and no one has filed to oppose him.

On the city council, there are two races shaping up: In Ward One, incumbent Dave Lehner is being opposed by Robert Timm, and in Ward Five, Scott Kundsvig is being challenged by Miranda Schuler.

At the county level, the seats currently held by John Fjeldahl and Jerome Gruenberg are open.

Fjeldahl has filed for re-election, and two others have entered their names as well - Kari Conrad and Larry Louser.

Gruenberg is not seeking re-election.
