A group of property owners living near First Western Bank's main office in Minot is suing the city of Minot over permits granted for the construction of a major addition to the bank.
The plaintiffs say the city council violated its own regulations in
granting needed zoning variances for the project.
And they want the project stopped until the issue goes before the appropriate committees for consideration.
One of the plaintiff's attorneys says he doesn't know what would happen to the project if the "appropriate committees" do not grant the needed variances to the city's zoning rules.
Neighbors to the project say they were mislead about the size of the building, and worry about the increase in traffic in their residential area.
A city official says the lawsuit is under review and the city will take the necessary steps in its defense.
