Domestic Violence Center Open House

Posted: Updated:

Just as it is for her clients, it has been a long road for Dena Filler.

But today she and the staff of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center celebrate a milestone.

(Dena Filler, Executive Director of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center) "It is just so wonderful. Welcome to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, New Beginning Campus, first of all... We are doing dedication and open house for basically for the whole place but specifically for the shelter. We've gone from a four bedroom shelter, now we're going to this facility which is a ten bedroom shelter."

The shelter has potential to sleep forty people -women and their children- and the resources they need to move on with their lives.

In addition there is an industrial kitchen, living rooms, a children's play room and the entire shelter is outfitted with cameras and alarms.

Filler credits the community for financial and material donations such as quilts, toiletries and soon, toys.

To donate food or any other items contact the shelter at 852-2258.
