Store Brings Art to Downtown Dickinson

They say that downtown is the heart of a city.

Steph Scheurer travels to Dickinson and shows us one new business that's adding a little more color to downtown.

It was an idea that began over a cup of coffee.

"We identified the niche and just kind of took off. We're like let's just do it. Took a leap of faith," says Josh Hardin, Curator, Celebrations 'n' Crafts.

They started their own business.

A dream both Amanda Galster and Josh Hardin shared.

Dickinson is bursting with new businesses downtown but Amanda and Josh noticed something was missing.

"We looked at the arts and the crafts and realized there was nothing here. You couldn't find any place to buy all original art. You couldn't get art supplies, things like that," says Hardin.

This building began as their blank canvas and from their creative minds came "Celebration 'n' Crafts."

"We have probably at least 14 different artists in here from the paintings on the wall to the crafts made. We have hand made candles, hand made jewelry, crochet work, just everything and so we really wanted to be a quaint, nice, cultured little store where you can find pretty much anything handmade that you can imagine," says Amanda Galster, Curator, Celebration 'n' Crafts.

Everything in the store is local and handmade.

Celebration 'n' Crafts has only been open for a week but they're already seeing an excited response from the community.

"This has been a lot of fun. It's been great and it's just so much fun just having all the downtown businesses so, we've been so well received and they're just so excited to have us and just seeing all the new smiling faces come in it's just, it's my dream job," says Galster.

And they celebrate it every day...

"We're pretty lucky, yeah I think so," say Galster and Hardin.

Galster and Hardin are always looking for new artists and photographers to showcase.
