A Minot man is charged with raping a local woman when their consensual encounter continued after the woman had told him to stop.
22-year-old Sam Valasquez is facing a Class Double-A Felony charge of Gross Sexual Imposition.
Prosecutors say Valasquez would not stop hitting and slapping the woman, even long after she had pleaded to stop.
The woman told police the man also caught her twice when she tried to escape and forced her to commit sexual acts on him before she finally got away.
Valasquez entered a plea of "not guilty" to the charge in court today.
Judge William McLees agreed there was sufficient evidence to hold Valasquez over for trial.
A guilty verdict would carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
