Community Foundation Project

Posted: Updated:

One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The organization also reports around 3 million children will witness that violence in their very own homes.

To help curb the abuse and exposure Power of the Purse donated $40 thousand to create a children room at the Minot Domestic Violence and Crisis Center.

Construction is now over, and the room in finished.

Both Power of the Purse and the crisis center say children can have new hope in a new facility.

(Gina Blasing, Power of the Purse) "Peoples lives were touched that we never thought would be touched in something like this, with their past. the joy is just knowing that the children have something, and a place to go. If you saw the old facility, they did what they could, and this is a 150 percent better."

Since 2007, Power of the Purse has given over $160 thousand dollars to community foundations,

and said they still have much more to give.
