Two Injured in Highway Collision

Emergency crews responded to a 2-vehicle accident that happened at 4:40 this afternoon about 15 miles south of Minot at the junction of highways 83 and 23.

The North Dakota Highway patrol reports 42-year-old Maria Schermerhorn of Arizona was traveling eastbound on Highway 23 in an Acura , when she failed to yield to traffic, and was struck by 55-year old Dennis Miller of Bismarck as he was traveling southbound in his Ford F-150 on Highway 83.

Both drivers sustained injuries.

Several emergency crews responded to the scene.

(Sgt. Kevin Huston, North Dakota Highway Patrol) "The vehicle that was struck by the southbound vehicle, the driver had to get extricated from the fire departments and was transported to Trinity Hospital via North star helicopter."

The airbags deployed in both vehicles and both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
