A 42-year-old Wyoming drowned when his canoe capsized on Lake Patterson near Dickinson today.

Stark County Sheriff Clarence Tuhy says Jeffrey Heib was fishing with his children--ages three and eight--when the canoe tipped over.

Tuhy says two people in a nearby boat came to the rescue.

Rhett and Natalie Hall pulled the kids into their boat. Both children were wearing life jackets.

But their father was not.

The rescuing couple managed to hold onto Heib as officers swam to the boat.

But the sheriff said the man was not in good shape when he was finally pulled to shore.

Heib was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's hospital in Dickinson.
