Boy Scouts Collect Food

Posted: Updated:

Cub Scouts Pack 404 is trying to bring local awareness to a global problem -- Hunger.

Lead By Sara Iverson Smith, the boys are collecting non-perishable food items in their neighborhoods and at Perkett School.

Iverson Smith says this is just one of many big projects the cubs complete as a pack.

The pack's goal is to fill an entire trailer full of food to be dispersed to the three major food pantries in Minot..

(Sara Iverson Smith, Cub Scouts Pack 404 Leader)"The kids that got to go to Marketplace two weeks ago--they were amazing, they were so excited. They ran up to every person who walked in, they handed them a flyer. When the people were bringing carts of food they were jumping up and down practically doing cartwheels. I think when the parents see when the kids are doing it and they also think it's amazing so I imagine we'll have a lot of people tonight."

The boys went door to door in the Perkett neighborhood this evening collecting donations.

You can also drop off any non-perishable food items to the PPerkettSchool tomorrow.
