Minot Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder

Posted: Updated:

A Minot man says he is "not guilty" of murder in the death of his girlfriend.

47-year-old Darin Parker entered the plea today in Northwest District Court.

In today's preliminary hearing, Minot Police Detective Jay Laudenschlager said Parker had initially told him that injuries to 44-year-old Karrie Williams were from a fall.

But the detective said when he saw the woman, he knew that couldn't be true.

(Dan Laudenschlager, Minot Police Detective) "I couldn't believe the extent of her injuries, I could definitely tell this was not from a fall. Both her eyes were black and blue and swollen shut, her left ear - it was so swollen you couldn't tell it was even an ear, she had bruising basically from head to toe - her whole body, extremities, there was bruises everywhere."

Williams died within hours of being taken to the hospital in late February.

A trial for Parker is scheduled for this summer.
