Former Burning Hills Singer Talks Kat Perkins

Posted: Updated:

If you keep up with the show The Voice, then you know that North Dakota's own Kat Perkins has made it into the top 10.

Among her many supporters is Levi Andrist of Bismarck.

About 10 years ago to the week, he met Kat as a fellow Burning Hills Singer in the Medora Musical.

Andrist says with Kat growing up in Scranton and he in Crosby, they became quick friends.

Andrist says he wasn't surprised she made it on The Voice and believes she can win the whole competition.

He says it's exciting that another person from our state is making it big.

"She's an unexpected ambassador for our state. If you look at Kat Perkins, she has way more tattoos than she did when she was in the Medora Musical. She had a couple prominent ones on her arms. But if you look at Kat, how many people do you think watching The Voice would say, oh she's from North Dakota? Not many. So what it really does is it shows to people and a national audience that we've got a great amount of diversity in our state," says Levi Andrist.

Andrist says he never really watched The Voice in the past until now.

He's been following Kat's progress, supports her on social media, and makes sure to vote for her after each round.
