Entrepreneurs Collaborate Through 1 Million Cups

Posted: Updated:

Entrepreneurs are caffeinating the nation one city at a time...through a movement called 1 Million Cups.

Bismarck/Mandan is one of more than 30 cities helping to engage entrepreneurs in their communities.

1 Million Cups originated in Kansas City and was brought here by the Idea Center.

Bismarck is the 16th city to launch the movement.

Business gurus get together for a cup of coffee once a week to hear about new start up ideas.

"It's really about word of mouth and cross-collaboration between entrepreneurs and then people really in the community who are just excited about building a start-up culture and supporting new vitality within the community," says Ellyn Brannan, Idea Center.

Today, people are learning about CoSchedule, an online technology business that started here about a year ago.

CoSchedule is a tool for social media and blog content publishing.

Co-Founder Garrett Moon says it's beneficial to be a part of 1 Million Cups for several reasons.

"For us, you know, One Million Cups is a really important place to, you know, share what we're doing, help other entrepreneurs get new ideas and just build that community vibe in Bismarck," says Garrett Moon, Co-Founder, CoSchedule.

1 Million Cups meets every Wednesday at 9am at the UND Center for Family Medicine.

Brannan says they hope to expand 1 Million Cups out to Western North Dakota using a live chat feature on YouTube.
