The closure of one business led to a much needed expansion of another...here at Macs Hardware on 20th in Minot. Master Bread closed this location at the beginning of the year -- and Macs quickly took over the area. Now the renovation work has been completed and this weekend there is a grand re-opening planned. David Kinney with Macs says it is nice to be able to stock more of what people want.
(David Kinney - Macs Hardware) "People were asking us for a lot of different items in the store, but we really couldn't get them because we were so crammed for space. With the bread store opening up it gave us an opportunity to bring in more of the items that customers were looking for."
That included more space for a favorite here -- the old time soda! It has expanded along with the hardware offerings. The grand re-opening is set for Saturday from 11 to 2.
Another expansion -- here at Karl's near Kohls. You'll notice the expansion outside the store as they build east...but not once you are inside. The expansion is for a larger warehouse -- and when you make a purchase here...you'll more than likely notice it then...
(Elmer Karl - Founder and President) "Our stock is going to be a little bit deeper. If someone comes in and sees a washer and dryer that they want, we will have quicker delivery -- maybe same day."
Karl's is headquartered in South Dakota...with Minot being one of three North Dakota locations.
Finally -- in booming Watford City, the need for potato oles can be met. Taco Johns has opened. In fact today was the first day for the West-Mex favorite. The Watford location is owned and operated by Preferred Restaurant Group based in Minot and has Taco Johns locations throughout the state -- as well as in Montana and Idaho as well.
