A 13 year old Kenmare boy who died weighing just 21 pounds died of chronic starvation due to juvenile appetite disorder.
A condition that was considered treatable.
That was the finding from an autopsy performed on the child.
His mother, Jessica Jensen is charged with murder in the case.
Her preliminary hearing was held today.
During that hearing, details of the scene investigators found on January 12th of this year were described by Laura Forbes of the Ward County Sheriff's Department.
One of the first to respond to the home that night after Jensen called 911 was a Kenmare police officer.
Forbes described what he found...
(Laura Forbes - Ward County Sheriff's Dept) "He stated when he arrived that Jessica was holding John Doe One and there was no emotion."
The living conditions at her home were described as cramped and filthy...with the bedroom of the 13 year old who passed away having a lock on the outside of the door -- and Forbes said it looked as though it was used.
The last time the boy had been seen by a doctor, was in 2008 according to Forbes.
Jensen's mother was interviewed by investigators.
She said that she told her daughter that the child needed to seen by medical professionals, even if it meant legal trouble for her...
(Laura Forbes - Ward County Sheriff's Dept) "And then her mother turned around and told her that it was better to get in trouble now then when he passes."
Jensen pleaded not guilty to the murder charge this morning.
