Hunting game and fish is a widespread hobby in North Dakota - but it has to be done the right way.
The North Dakota Wildlife Federation hosted their annual "Reporting All Poachers" auction today, with hunting and fishing equipment that's been confiscated by the court from poachers.
The goal of the auction is to raise money for the R.A.P. program, as well as promote ethical and safe hunting.
The president says that with our population rising, the problem of poaching is going up as well.
(Mike Mcenroe, President of ND Wildlife Federation) "It's people that are new to the state that don't know what our laws are and they're following what they did back in their home state or a different state, they think the same rules apply, and they don't, necessarily. Some just think they're here for a short time so, "I won't buy a license because I'm not going to be in North Dakota for a long time."
About 500 people attended the event today, all the funds raised will be helping the Reporting All Poachers program here in North Dakota.
