Today many people were out in the sun fixing up their homes and doing yyard work. One couple's home was especially busy today.
Once a year, a local nonprofit called Rebuilding Together repairs a home for residents who are unable to do it themselves.
Ben Smith has the story.
A group of about 20 people are keeping busy on their day off.
"We don't stand around." says Karla Ludwig
Because it's only one day, and there is plenty to do.
"They're working on the window here, scratching and painting and the next minute they are working on the ladder up there."says Valentine Ferderer
"You pick up a paint brush, you pick up rake, you pick up whatever, just do it."says Karla
Rebuilding Day is when a group of employees from MDU Resources pick home that is in need of some critical repairs.
This annual event is for those who are elderly or disabled, or are unable to do the work themselves.
"We are really extending the amount of time that individuals can continue to be in their homes."says Brooke Steffes
The place is 2210 East Ave. A here in Bismarck. It's where a group of people who have different jobs throughout the week are working together towards the same goal.
"I have employees from the communications department, human resources, regulatory affairs, accounting." says Brooke
"We are all here for the same purpose; to help somebody in need."
This mutual goal is bringing these co-workers closer together.
"Everyone that's here, they are easy to get along with, to talk with." says Karla
"When you come out here and you share a brush or you share a bucket of paint, you get to know each other." says Brooke
Although they are working on a saturday..
"If you dSaturday you would feel better about yourself." says Karla
They don't seem to have a problem rolling up their sleaves to get the josleeves
"When you get to talk to the homeowners and understand what it is doing for their lives and how this improves their quality of living. That's whats really importantwhat'se and that's my favorite part." says Brooke
Thanks to a group of dedicated people working together.
"If my legs would be better I would be standing out there, just admiring it you know." says Valentine
Mr. Ferderer's home of 24 years is restored.

The inside of the home was also remodeled which included the installation of a walk-in tub.
Rebuilding Together has served the Bismarck-Mandan community for 17 years.
