Each spring producers "scout" their fields for weeds. Weeds can have a devastating effect on crops and livestock, costing farmers over $50 billion annually to control. Accurate, precise, and early detection of weeds enables farmers to control weeds – ensuring that the farm economy continues as the primary source to feed the world with its $400 billion contribution to the U.S. economy.

Farmers do not always recognize new weed species immediately because they have no natural geographic or climate boundaries. The Ag Weed ID enables users to narrow the search by crop, season, and location so that they can compare weeds that might be relevant to them.  It allows agriculture producers to compare images right next to a weed – in the field when timing is critical – or use the app's camera integration feature to take and upload photos of the weeds to identify them at a convenient time. The app also allows producers bookmark weeds to reference later, or share them with crop advisors to acquire more information.

"Identifying and appropriately treating the weeds in crop fields, or in pastures where livestock graze, is of primary importance to agriculture producers. Miss a weed, and it can destroy your crop or poison your livestock," said Greg Frey, Penton Farm Progress market leader. "The app carries a wealth of weed id information readily available from the Ag Weed ID app. It presents ag marketers with an excellent integrated marketing tool to reach their producer audiences to build product awareness, image and brand expansion in the marketplace."

The Ag Weed ID app is available for iPhone and Android phones and is currently available in the respective app stores.
