Minot Park District Begins Rec Center Study

The Minot Park District announced in a press release you can read below that a four-month study has started looking into the possibility of building a recreation center in Minot.  Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Williston have recently constructed four-season facilities, now Minot appears to be at the beginning of the process of doing the same.

Minot, ND- The Minot Park District took a major step recently in charting for the future growth of the Magic City and the surrounding area. The Minot Park Board approved a proposal to engage IBIS Enterprises, to conduct a comprehensive business plan and feasibility study to determine the potential for a community recreation/wellness/fitness center in the Minot area.


Our job is to provide amenities and services to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens,” states Ron Merritt, Executive Director, Minot Park District. “In speaking with our user groups and people within our community, there is a lot of support for more indoor recreation amenities due to our North Dakota winters.”

Objectives of the business plan will address all pre-development issues. Specifically the plan will identify all elements of the project, including a conceptual partnership model which will address programming and operations among potential collaborative organizations. The funding for the business plan has been provided by the Minot Park District and the Minot Area Community Foundation.

This is an exciting first step for the community toward determining the potential and specific community recreation, fitness, and wellness needs. By pooling community resources through a partnership project, greater accessibility, convenience and programs can become a reality for everyone,” states Donna F. Jarmusz, President, IBIS Enterprises.

The City of Minot is growing and it is our goal as the Minot Park District to grow along with the needs of the community,” says Merritt. “We want to plan for the future of the lifelong residents of the Magic City as well as for the needs of the new and potential residents looking to call Minot home.”
