Small Business Hands-on Workshops

Posted: Updated:

North Dakota and Microsoft are forming a Digital Alliance, the first of it's kind in the country.
This state-wide alliance is teaching entrepreneurs about modern technologies.
Ben Smith takes a look at how the business world is changing and what small companies need to stay competitive.

North Dakota is an ideal place to start up a business.
"The opportunities are just endless because we continue to grow at such a rapid pace." says Sommer Jacob
But in order to be successful, companies have to keep up with the times.
"We can't run the businesses the same way we did 20 years ago where everything was on paper you're like we have to go back in the back to research that." says Eric Germander
Technologies have changed this.
"Well now you go I have my computer here I can go through my files I can have that answer for you in 5 minutes." says Eric Experts
from NorthRiverNorth Riverlding Small Business hands-on Workshops--showing how Microsoft 365 is helping business share information anytime, from anywhere.
"It's not just about collaboration at your desktop and in the traditional office work space but it's also about traveling while on the road." says Chaz Hager
Sommer Jacob understands how hard it can be to start your own company.
"I think as a start up businesses, there is a lot of challenges with any of the technology portion being able to get that all synchronized." says Sommer
She is looking to synchronize the sharing of paperwork within her construction company using Microsoft's Sharepoint.
"I'm thinking new employees; we can put applications on there, we can put HR documents, policy books, safety manuals things of that nature. It will save time for our HR department."
According to NorthRiver experts, companies like Jacob's can now have this technology at their finger tips.
"Even the small business can have the potential to have an IT company that can do the same IT things that large corporations can do." Says Eric
But it takes dedication.
"Today the people here were very inquisitive."
"That shows you that they have that type of fire inside to get that business going."says Eric
These entrepreneurs are focused and are keeping their hands-on task.
