A brand new medical facility will soon call this land home -- provided it gets the approval from city of Minot Planning Commission and the full City Council. Here, just north of 21st Ave. NW and just to the east of the 83 bypass we should soon see this constructed -- St. Alexius Medical Center's Minot Medical Plaza. Two stories and nearly 70 thousand square feet of space that is rumored to have some same day surgery options in it...nothing confirmed as of yet -- but paperwork has been filed with the city. Watch for much more on this in the coming weeks.

A homebuilder is getting ready for a very busy summer of construction in an area just southeast of town that is poised to see a boom in population. The 55th Crossing area will soon be the home of a new school -- that being the recently passed Nedrose middle and high school. You can see here the homes that will soon surround it...and now some of those homes are going up. Heartland Homes is working to build affordable units -- condos right now that start out at about 165 thousand dollars and will soon sit in a top of the line neighborhood according to Mike Duffy.

(Mike Duffy - Heartland Homes) "We think that it will be a great neighborhood and that is what we need to do. If we only build an affordable house and it isn't in a great neighborhood it doesn't make it a great place to live, but if we can build affordable houses in a great neighborhood, it is a win-win and that is what we hope to demonstrate to people."

Heartland is working with Century 21 in Minot.

Finally -- the waiting is officially over. Five Guys Burgers and Fries is officially open in SW Minot. You'll find them at Southgate Crossing and can now give their big burgers and spicy fries a go of it.

With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
