Senator Hoeven Talks Summer Plans for Amtrak

Posted: Updated:

Today is a holiday that we don't often think about - national train day.

The Amtrak Station in Minot held a celebration that included words from Senator John Hoeven about upcoming plans for the train rails in the Minot area.

400 million dollars is being put into expanding rail capacity in North Dakota this year.

This will mean multiple tracks in more areas to better, and more safely haul people, oil, and other goods.

(Senator John Hoeven) "We're growing through these growing pains, and we see that, we don't like it, but we have to do it, because we've got to expand our rail capacity so we've got that good service for the long term."

Senator Hoeven also says train rails in Grand Forks, Rugby, and Devils lake should be usable by September.
