How do you plan to spend your retirement years?
Many people 50 and older are looking to start a new career, working for themselves.
These 'encore entrepreneurs' started off with success at a Minot workshop hosted by the Small Business Administration, AARP and SCORE.
The groups are hosting a series of workshops throughout the state providing networking opportunities with business owners and community leaders for advice and assistance.
The SBA and partners provide information on self-employment through the internet, home-based or part-time.
While the workshops are open to anyone, 'encore entrepreneurs' targets retiring baby boomers.
(Dale Van Eckhout, SBA Senior Area Manager) "The biggest thing is that they have the belief that they want to do something or try something that they didn't have the chance or the opportunity earlier, in their earlier years so that kind of gives them the opportunity now to do that."
