Bergstrand Sentenced for Attempted Coercion/Enticement of a Minor

A Bismarck man is sentenced to one year and a day in prison followed by five years of supervised release in an attempted coercion and enticement of a minor case.

Shawn Bergstrand will receive credit for time served.

Prosecutors had asked for more prison time--but Judge Daniel Hovland imposed the reduced sentence.

Bergstrand was arrested last July after responding to an online ad in which an undercover officer posed as a mother who was willing to sell her 15 and 17-year-old daughters for sex.

He then made arrangements through texts and emails to pay for sex with the minor daughters.

Bergstrand changed his plea to guilty in January.
