A project has broken ground to provide low-cost housing to essential service workers in the Minot area.
Fieldcrest Apartments will open next year and offer apartments with rents from $400 to $800 per month.
Nine of the 42 units will be set aside to provide housing for key workers - people employed by schools, medical facilities, or government agencies.
The 8-point-3 million dollar project was financed through a state program that brings together investments by local banks with developers and state and local agencies to offer affordable housing.
The director of the North Dakota Housing Finance Agency says it's the ninth project the agency has been a part of in Minot since the 2011 flood.
