Around Town 5-16

Posted: Updated:

It's not just Bismarck that's building new space for its growing amount of students.

North Mandan will soon be home to a brand new elementary school..

If you follow the Old Red Trail road in Mandan, it will lead you to the new Red Trail Elementary School.

Construction began last spring.

Currently the facility is on track and set to welcome its new students this August.

Dave Steckler will move from being principal at Mary Stark Elementary to the principal here.

He says it's a bittersweet change.

"I love Mary Stark. Mary Stark has been part of me for eight years. Great kids, great staff, great parents. But, you know, I'm always looking for a new challenge and this is definitely a different challenge and it's a new challenge and I'm excited about the opportunity to be part of Red Trail," says Dave Steckler, Principal, Red Trail Elementary School.

Red Trail will hold nearly 300 students K through 5.

It will have all updated technology and the classrooms will have tables instead of desks to provide more interactive learning.

Grizzly's Grill & Saloon at the Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck will soon make new changes.

Manager Denver Tergesen says they'll be going through a full menu remodel to give customers higher quality food.

"We are the original burger company and we still have that menu concept so right now we focus on hamburgers, sandwiches, things like that and we'd just like to provide more of a rotisserie style - chickens, ribs, steaks, just not more of a fine dining atmosphere but just a little bit more heartier food than just your basic burger and sandwich place," says Denver Tergesen, Manager, Grizzly's Grill & Saloon.

Grizzly's will also be bringing in new floors, carpet, and paint to freshen up the atmosphere.

You can expect to see these upgrades throughout the summer.

Tergesen says moving Grizzly's up to the North side of town is the talk throughout the corporation.

But this would not be for another two to three years.
